Thanks for the effort. I can understand and support your decision. Actually, I usually use gretl win version under PlayonLinux with my old ubuntu 10.04. 

Fortunately, the current gretl works great under PlayonLinux so far.

Well, seriously, yes, I would hope so.

I can certainly see users wanting to stick with an OS that they've found to be reasonably stable over the years, and not wanting to pay the "Microsoft tax" for "upgrades" that might not actually be improvements at all. But after 16 years, and with MS having ended support years ago, I think it ought to be time to reconsider an
attachment to winXP in favour of a free OS.
