I wouldn't say so. You can type a name like "foo.OX" into the
file-open dialog and it'll work.

It works using Windows, but it isn't working on Mac OS/X.
 
I think the bug is putting
upper-case letters into a filename extension ;-)

I agree, I think one should use lower-case. But sometimes people use upper-case (eg. using the MSVAR package we can find a file named HAMILTON.OX).
