Yes, I did. wgnuplot.exe also gives the same message "d2d1.dll" cannot be found.
I tried to install gretl 2016d and in this version gnuplot worked fine.

I guess it's more a gnuplot thing. Do you have the same problem running gnuplot on its own (look for "wgnuplot.exe" in your gretl program dir)?
