Well, we should have already set up a release of packages at GitHub.

It could be an alternative.
You can prepare, actually maybe only Artur Tarasow, a manual release at the Project: https://github.com/gretl-project/gretl

In my experience, the mirroring system of SourceForge is not
super-optimal and can bring about veeeeeeery loooooooong download times.
Indirect proof is that, when this happens, using a different mirror
usually helps.
