Since a release is imminent, I thought that maybe we could add a few lines about this to the download page for Mac users. I don't have a Mac, so I'm unable to jot down a "howto" list, but perhaps Berend could?

Tested on macOS Catalina (10.15.3) with the latest snapshot gretl-quartz.pkg

0. Open System Preferences and navigate to Security & privacy. Select tab General.

1. Double click .pkg file. You get a message "gretl-quartz.pkg can't be opened because Apple cannot check it ...".

Click OK. to close the window.

2. In the tab mentioned in item 0 you will see a message with a button Open Anyway.

Click that button.

3. Double click the gretl pkg file again. Now you will get the same window as in item 1.

The window has two buttons: Open and Cancel.

Click Open and Gretl will be installed.

This worked for me.
