I conducted further investigation into this issue and found that the error message, "Argument 1 (ticker) is missing," persists in installations from gretl-2026a-32.exe and gretl-2026a-win32.zip. However, the error does not occur in gretl-2026a-64.exe.

Could this issue possibly be related to the 32-bit (win32) version only?

That would certainly be an explanation of why we're not seeing it. In theory there could be some difference in the underlying libraries. 

One thing you could perhaps do is look at the debug output by running "gretl.exe --debug" from a Windows cmd or PowerShell window.

Of course this should be fixed, but any particular (hardware) reason why you're using the 32 bit version?
