I don't know about the drop-down menus (can't test it right now). Maybe would be important to know if you are using GTK 2 or GTK 3, and Gnome or KDE.

About the screencasting I have used http://recordmydesktop.sourceforge.net/about.php (only command line ;) ). Maybe that helps.

I've noticed over the last several versions of -gretl- that I can no longer activate the drop-down menus in the results output window. I can fix it by clicking on the 'Windows' menu and then selecting 'Arrange', which sends all the windows to the north-west of my screen, but this is a bug, isn't it?
