Dear Gretl users,
I have a student without access to a laptop and she wants to install gretl in a tablet (Android, Lenovo TAB K11)
Ahh, no chance.
As it says, you need Android 16, and it's probably not for beginners. Moreover, I reckon that running a linux distro in a VM on a tablet should be horribly slow and inefficient, not to mention potential crashes. To be explicit, far worse than what you'd get on a 100€ laptop with Windows 10 on (just to reiterate).
Personally I'm also a fan of a full PC (laptop), so it's a good piece of advice (apart from the Win10 part perhaps). But there are many people and students around who come to classes with a tablet only. Especially if you have to carry your equipment the whole day because you don't have an office, I can understand why. (The costs of managing an additional device is also non-negligible IMHO.)
About the slowness, I'm not so sure these days. It would be interesting to hear some experiences, but probably not many people on this list have tried it already I guess.
cheers
sven
