The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) is a poverty measure developed by OPHI and the United Nations Development Programme for UNDP’s flagship Human Development Reports, and has been published in the reports since then. It reflects the multiple deprivations that poor people face in the areas of education, health, and living standards. This method is flexible and can be used with different dimensions, indicators, weights and cutoffs to create measures specific to different societies and situations.
