That will not work. If you're building gretl from source you
need to build the whole thing, including libgretl -- and you
should totally remove any distro-supplied
gretl files.
You can install the "third-party" dependencies for gretl via
the package manager (see Appendix C of the Gretl User's Guide
on "Building gretl"), but you cannot mix and match
pre-packaged gretl and self-compiled gretl.
