Hi Allin and the team, After download and installed the latest
2020c-git 2020-04-20 build on my MacBook pro 2018, when I tried to do
a plot, I got this message: "Failed to execute child process
"gnuplot" (No such file or directory)."
While reinstalling the 2020b with 2020-04-11 built, trying for a plot
I get the same error message that others got too: Gnuplot is broken
or too old: must be >= version 5.0
I’m not sure how to fix this error. So for now, I have to reinstall a
much earlier version to do my work. Fred
Did you try that suggestion from Allin: "At first I had a problem
running gnuplot but this was apparently due to a stale ~/.gretl2rc.
After deleting that gnuplot works fine from within gretl."

Hi Sven,
I have no clue how to do that.
I searched and don’t know where that line is on my computer, at least nothing in ~/.gretl.
The only place that had anything close to it was in Applications/Gretl/Contents/Resources/share/man/man1/gretl.1, and the line there is"\fI~/.gretl2rc\fP per\-user configuration file”.
I don’t dear to do anything with that file.
I was going crazy trying to make a version of gretl that worked, for any version that I installed, on the “About gretl” from the “Help” menu, it always says "gretl 2020c-git built 2020-4-20”.
I had to delete gretl in my Application folder and then reinstall gretl. This time, only 2020a worked with gnuplot, but the crash that I reported was repeatable still.
Finally, I downloaded gnuplot-5.2.3-quartz directly to my computer and linked gretl to that app and it worked.
So I’m back on gretl 2020c-git built 2020-4-20 with gnuplot working and no crashing so far.
Best,
Fred
