Yes, you can select the file and press "open" and then you get that message.

Thanks, Periklis. So -- just to be sure I've got the context right -- this occurs when using, say, the

/File/Open data/User file

menu item?  And if so, how far do you get? Are you able to select the target file, but then on clicking "OK" or whatever you get that error message?
