I am unable to figure out how to exclude one specific panel from a stacked timeseries  panel dataset of 5 members. Were that particular panel no.1 or no. 5, it is straightforward. But this one is no.3

Is there a specific boolean expression to exclude that with ID=3? Simply specifying ID = 3 or ID==3 does not seem to work.

Suggestions welcomed.

Since you want to exclude, you probably need the inequality test. Example:

open grunfeld

smpl firm != 3 --restrict

The indicator "firm" already exists in this dataset. In yours it seems to be "ID"? Or do Add/Panel/Unit index.
