could you share the script you used to convert from dta to gdt? 

I'm Sven, but I did it in the GUI, not via script. But it should work equivalently with the "open" and "setobs" commands, something like:

open GMD.dta

setobs id year --panel-vars

setobs 1 1086 --panel-time

Untested!
