The graph output of the tau sequence of quantiles does not appear to be
editable using the GUI. It would be helpful if it could -if only to give
it a title .

Yes, it would. You could file a feature request on the tracker
(https://sourceforge.net/p/gretl/feature-requests/).
As an expert workaround in the meantime one could save the plot to the
session "as an icon" and then try to edit the gnuplot source there.
(Haven't tested if it actually works, for example adding a title.)

Will do
And will give your suggested workaround a try.
Still hoping for a development of the univariate structural modelling
forecast function to include exogenous variables. Or should I also suggest
that on the tracker ....feature/requests too.

No need to, it's firmly planted in our memory! No seriously, we agree
it's a natural extension. Besides, the trackers are not really intended
for the contributed packages.
Out of curiosity, what kind of exogenous variables do you want to include?
