Ok,
I just corrected the paths as you wrote.
This prolem seems to be fixed. But trying to start gretl via command
line shows that the programm files (the gretl folder) can't be find
under /usr/share/gretl but /usr/local/share/gretl:
artur@artur-laptop:~$ gretl
setlocale(LC_NUMERIC, "de_DE.UTF-8") returned de_DE.UTF-8
get_gretl_charset: using UTF-8
Hilfedatei /usr/share/gretl/gretlcmd.hlp ist nicht erreichbar
Hilfedatei /usr/share/gretl/gretlgui.hlp ist nicht erreichbar
GError details from g_file_get_contents
message: 'Datei »/usr/share/gretl/ui/gretlmain.xml« konnte nicht
geöffnet werden: No such file or directory'

How can one change the folder directory to /usr/local/share/gretl?

Artur

Ok, i solved the problem by editing the .gretl2rc file in the home
directory.
Gretl seems to work fine now.
Thanks for your effort.

Data Error for Probit/Logit
by Mike Fontaine
Hello all,
Recently I have been receiving the same error message, "Data Error", when I try to run a regression via Gretl. OLS, Heteroskadasticity corrected and all other regressions seem to work, however Logit and Probit do not work with the data set I have. There is 571 points with 4 independent variables, however I have successfully run a Logit regression before using the same data set but with more points. Perhaps there is a minimum amount of points, or that somehow my data got out of wack?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

can't start self-compiled gretl

Hello,
I tried to compile the gretl cvs version on Ubuntu 8.04. This were the
commands:
1. ./configure --enable-build-doc
2. make
3. sudo checkinstall
I got no errors. But when I try to start gretl I get the following
message:
artur@artur-laptop:~/cvs/gretl$ gretl

VAR in connection to AIC, BIC ...
by Davor Horvatic
Hello everybody,
I'm new to gretl and in process of familiarizing
myself with it. So I have a question concerning
var command.
Example:
var 5 x1 x2 --lagselect
if I change order from 5 to 8 or 10
values of AIC, BIC ... will change for lower lags.
Is this correct behavior ? Should not values
for AIC, BIC ... stay the same for lower lags ?
Also short question on ADF. In help I see that there
is algorithm presented for --test-down. Can you
comment if there is need and if it --test-down include
lag selection by AIC, BIC or other tests ?
All best,
Davor

graphs with R from within gretl?
by Sven Schreiber
Hello everybody,
I'm wondering whether it could make sense to produce graphs with R,
given the brand new gretl functionality to embed R commands. I would
like to compare the output quality of the standard gretl approach (using
gnuplot) with what embedded R would provide.
However, I have no experience with R, so I need help: does anybody have
a minimal script example (say, simple scatter plot of two variables)
that could be run in gretl and produce the graph, ideally saveable in pdf?
thanks,
sven
