Downloading Content from Server and Offline Update
by Henrique Andrade
Dear Gretl Developers,
Today when we update Gretl for Mac OS all the server functions, example
data, and databases are deleted. So every time I update the program need to
re-download these files on the server. I don't have this problem on my
Windows based PC.
I think this is because the default directory in Mac OS/X is inside the
Gretl application ("/Applications/*Gretl.app*
/Contents/Resources/share/gretl/").
My first suggestion: What do you think about moving functions, example data,
and databases to the *.gretl* directory?
My second problem (which generates my second suggestion): Here at my work
the internet access requires secure proxy (with password), so I can't access
server's contents (such as functions and databases).
My second suggestion: Make offline installation of these contents available
(so I can download them using the internet browser and made an offline
installation).
Best,

Syntax highlighting
by Henrique Andrade
Dear Gretl Developers,
I would like to know if it's possible to print Gretl scripts (Hansl files)
using colors (to put the nice Gretl's syntax highlighting on the paper). I
would like to put the commands with the colors in my PhD work :)
Thanks in advance,

ctrl-click in OS X
by Neil Hepburn
Hi Allin
I've got the most current thing that I can find on the sourceforge site (1.9.5 CVS). However, it is dated April 24, 2011. I am installing Fink right now and will try building from that.

problem with gretl_x11
by Hélio Guilherme
Hi,
The problem is before creating a window. Here is the output:
helio@linux-techno:~/gretl> gretl_x11
gretl_x11: error while loading shared libraries: libgretl-1.0.so.0: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
There are no problems with gretlcli (even started gnuplot from there).
Thank you for your time Allin.

Selecting non-contiguous lists in Gretl on a Mac/Feature request
by Neil Hepburn
Greetings
I normally use gretl on a Mac. Unfortunately, trying to select multiple non-contiguous items such as variables does not seem to be possible. ctrl-click allows for non-contiguous selections on a Windows or Linux machine. However, on a Mac, ctrl-click is the equivalent of right clicking. Does anyone know of a work around for this?
As a follow up to this, if a work-around is not possible, then adding a dialog box for descriptive statistics would be useful. For example, when you select two variables and then select correlation matrix, you are presented with a dialog box where you can select the variables that you want in your correlation matrix. The same would be useful for descriptive statistics. Also, perhaps being able to control the summary statistics that are reported.
Cheers,
Neil Hepburn

installing gretl in Ubuntu 11.04
by Neil Hepburn
Greetings
I am trying to install Gretl 1.9.5 in Ubuntu 11.04 as per the note on the Sourceforge site about using the Debian version instead of the Ubuntu version. Can someone tell me the repository to use in my /etc/apt/sources.list file?
Cheers,
Neil

uploading SETAR function presented at 2nd Gretl Conference
by Federico Lampis
Hi All
today I've uploaded in the gretl functions server the function I
presented and discussed in the 2nd Gretl Conference. It allows to
estimate a SETAR model with 2 regimes following the methodology of Bruce

trouble building gretl with custom lapack
by Skipper Seabold
Hi,
Trying to install gretl 1.9.5 from source due to the known seg faults
in the downstream ubuntu 11.04 repositories. I have all the
dependencies installed, except my lapack (3.2.2) was built with ATLAS
(3.9.2) with the same version of gcc I have installed. The lapack
stuff seems to be giving me troubles, though I'm not too sure why. It
works fine for numpy/scipy and R.
|2 $ pwd
/home/skipper/built/atlas_files
|3 $ ls lib/
libamd.2.2.1.a libcblas.a liblapack.a libptf77blas.a
libamd.a libcblas.so liblapack.so libptf77blas.so
libatlas.a libf77blas.a libptcblas.a libumfpack.5.5.0.a
libatlas.so libf77blas.so libptcblas.so libumfpack.a
So I change lblas to lcblas in configure. This is my config.log
http://pastebin.com/3GR4yCH6
Any ideas?

FITRESID get_system_forecast
by Ahmed
Hi,
First, thanks for software my experience with it thus far has been positive
(Im a relatively new user - 2011).
My question is with regards to forecasting and plotting using a system of 2
equations. Im having difficulty figuring out the
FITRESID<http://gretl.sourceforge.net/API/gretl-libgretl.html#FITRESID:CAPS>get_system_forecast
commands
if you can provide me with some feedback on that I would much appreciate it.
I attached my code for your consideration:
# model set up as a Inverse Demand & Supply System (#2)
smpl 1980 2010
system name="Soybean Model"
equation ld_Psoy_real ld_ont_soy_pe ld_gdp_real_per const
equation ld_Psoy_real ld_ont_soy_pe(-1) ld_interest(-1) ld_corn_seeded
const
endog ld_Psoy_real ld_ont_soy_pe
end system
# estimate it
estimate "Soybean Model" method=tsls
#fcast 2011 2011
series pr_est = $yhat[,1]
get_system_forecast(...)
Thanks in advance

New options for the script editor
by Henrique Andrade
Dear Gretl Team,
Today a colleague asked me where she could find the buttons "cut" and "redo"
in the script editor window.
I think it would be nice to have these buttons. What do you think?
Um abraço,
