I think José has also answered Allin's other message here. And this 
ambiguity is exactly the problem with matching gretl to the 
stackexchange areas. (Both stackoverflow and stats [== CrossValidated] 
belong to the stackexchange group, the naming is quite confusing.)
It seems to me --like Allin said-- that many of the questions from 
gretl-users would not be adequate for CrossValidated. I'm not against 
moving to the stackexchange areas, but we would have to follow the 
"gretl" tag on two separate areas, not just one. This should be clear 
when the decision is made.
I agree with other people that the visibility would be increased 
relative to the status quo. I'm not so sure whether the impact on 
stackexchange will be higher than a dedicated web forum on the gretl 
project site (sourceforge).
