I, too, like the mailing list format better, but I have to acknowledge that most people nowadays are used to the forum format and (most importantly) the expect to find the "knowledge base", as embodied in the mailing list archives, when they google for things like "gretl panel data gmm" or "gretl arima forecast". So, here's my proposal: we (as in Uni Ancona) will host the mailing lists from January 2019: my top IT guy (who's in cc) said he's perfectly OK with it, except he needs some time to set things up. We'll keep having the existing 3 lists (user/dev/announce), but we'll use Mailman 3, which features Postorius, a very nice modern interface for reading archives.
