Not trivial, as Excel files can have more than 1 folder. In case there's only
one, a possible workaround is to use ssconvert, gnumeric's command-line
utility for converting formats. Example:
ssconvert foo.xls foo.csv && gretlcli foo.csv
Two other useful command-line tools to convert xls files into ascii and csv:
- xlhtml:
http://chicago.sourceforge.net/xlhtml/
- xls2csv: a tool from the catdoc package:
http://www.45.free.net/~vitus/software/catdoc/
(Debian packages: xlhtml and catdoc)
