I'm inclined to think that "stay on top" might be good
for simple
dialogs such as "choose a lag order", that don't have Help

be losing it, and complex enough that the user might want to
consult some information elsewhere in the GUI before completing
the interaction.
I think this is a good idea. Maybe it should be such that windows
that
are originating from other windows (or dialogs) should remain at all
times above the original window. For example, is it possible that the
"Add another curve" stays one level above the original distribution
plot window? This would result in such that when the user selects a
window, its existing child windows will also come to the front and do
not get lost.
