That was the idea at one point, but it got too complicated to
maintain. As things stand you have to d/l the new package (and
preferably run the uninstaller for the old package before
installing the new one).
I guess we should either make an effort to reinstate the
"auto-update" mechanism, or remove mention of it from the
docs.
