Well, what does
ls -al /usr/lib/gretl-gtk2/
show? Is gretl looking in the wrong place? If so, you could
try doing
rm ~/.gretl2rc
and trying again. But it sounds as if your gretl installation
must be broken so you're probably better reinstalling. The
current gretl version is 1.9.6.
