I'm affraid that I can't be more specific.
This steps are all that I do when this error appears.
This happens with every used dataset.
For example, I used dataset from gretl's database - Ramanathan Data 4-2.gdt.
The estimated model is OLS with one dependent and 3 independent variables,
const and time trend, with no lags.
I think that the problem is related to XP. I tried on two different
machines. The problem remains.
I can only try with another Windows version such Millennium.

I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. I don't doubt you, but I can
do these steps here and see no problem, and valgrind (memory checker) shows
no problem either. Could you give a data set and a model specification?
Allin.
