Thank you all for your inputs
@ Sven
In terms of
"professionalism", let's not forget that other software is English-only.
Is there actually any other statistics software that is translated?
Well, Statistica, Minitab, SPSS... but econometrics ones, there's none (I
guess). But yes, gretl is by no means the only software that provides such
a flexibility in changing the language (for others you just buy/download a
one-language version);
But I completely see the difficulties that you mention. As the German
translator I was always torn between keeping English terms or
acronyms
and translating more things to German.
Absolutely!!!!!
In the example above the term
"OLS" is so common in German that I thought it had to be added to be
clear.
Interesting!!!!! Stefan mentioned the same for the italian version. Hélio
did also for the Portuguese one. And that may suggest that harmonization is
not a good idea. However, there's always a balance to find between
following the herd and setting some standards (modestly :) ).
@ Alecos
You made my day !!!! Very good advice and nice definition :)
All the best,
