Hi Allin and friends, I've just discovered Quantian, a
quantitative-oriented GNU/Linux live distribution based on Knoppix,
maintained by Dirk Eddelbuettel (who incidentally is the Debian
maintainer of gretl :-)
It's available at:

I need to give Quantian a try. I've been very impressed by Knoppix,
but that's the only CD-based Linux variant that I've tried to date.
Of course gretl is available for Windows, but I agree: by preference,
gretl should be seen in the context of a larger world of free,
open-source software.
On a different matter: my current project, now completed apart from
the final packaging, is full gretl support for Stock and Watson's
"Introduction to Econometrics" (data files and replication scripts).
S and W kindly agreed to let me distribute the data in gretl format.
Allin.
