I was also thinking about something similar. I think it's helpful to
isolate common things into separate packages given that we've already
collected so many useful functions.
I would suggest a naming convention such as extra_<TYPE>.gfn. The user
would see all "extra" packages in a row, and realize that there is a
series of extra things written by the Gretl Team.
I'm relatively indifferent, but are you talking about a regular package
or an addon? (Reminder to other people: Addons are packages that are
part of the gretl codebase and are automatically shipped with gretl.)
The only rule I really would like to keep is: An official addon cannot
depend on a contributed package because that is going to cause chaos
eventually.
