Hi, such a fundamental problem is of course unusual, or else thousands
of people wouldn't be using gretl on Windows. So we need as much
information as possible to get a hold on what's happening.
- is this Windows 10?
- I presume you can use other programs alright?
- Can you do _anything_ in gretl, for example opening a datafile which
doesn't need to be downloaded? (The menu path you mentioned but without
the "look on server".)
- which language are you running gretl in?
- Does your Windows user name have any non-ASCII characters?
- How did you install Gretl? With the installer exe? Or are you using
the non-admin zip distribution?
- Can you try opening a PDF help file while you're temporarily offline?
