Hm.. for me it still crashes when I try to view the model table after
adding a model to it. (Same thing as before: estimate ols, save as
session symbol, add model to table, then view the model table - crash.)
Ok, this is probably not very helpful, but I'd like to share what I've seen. I
don't have a Windows box, but I used to have one, so I dug up my old Win98 cd
and set up a qemu image (I must say, qemu is pretty impressive). Here's what I
did on my virtual win98 box (Italian locale):
- I downloaded the latest win snapshot
- Installation as usual
- I opened data3-1 and estimated via the gui an OLS model with "price" as
depvar and "const" and "sqft" as indep vars
- From the model window: File->Salva alla sessione come icona (ie "Save to
session as icon" in the English version)
- I opened the current session window and dragged the "Modello 1" icon onto
the "Modelli" icon ("Model table" in English)
- Double-click on the latter: the model table appears
- I shut down gretl
No (I repeat, no) crashes of any kind.
Now, the crash you're seeing must be related to one (or more?) of the following:
1) Windows version
2) Fresh install vs actual working machine, which is likely to have piles of
old dll's here and there (that'd be a nightmare)
3) Italian vs German (unlikely IMO, John is seeing the same bug and AFAICT he
uses the English version)
Just my 2 c.
