There was a bug in gretl 1.9.4 that (strangely) only seemed to be
triggered on Ubuntu. It's fixed in the current release, 1.9.5.
To install 1.9.5 on Ubuntu, you have 2 options: you can
(1) get the source from SourceForge
(
http://sf.net/projects/gretl/files/gretl/1.9.5/gretl-1.9.5.tar.bz2/download)
and compile it yourself; instuctions on this can be found
in the gretl user's guide and on the archives of this list. Here's one of
the possible pointers:
http://lists.wfu.edu/pipermail/gretl-users/2011-February/005883.html
(2) get the deb files from Debian sid (they should be ok for Ubuntu
11.04, but I haven't checked first-hand): start from here
http://packages.debian.org/sid/gretl and follow the dependency chain or,
if you're familiar with apt, add debian sid to your repositories and use
the package management tool you like best.
