At first I thought it still wasn't working, then I discovered what might be the real
problem. Seems that the directory I was trying to save the modified file to was read-only.
So if I delete v1 & try to save the original file, I still get the same error. But
when I saved a copy of the original file into \documents\gretl (created on windows),
things work fine.
Looks like this is more of a windows issue that gretl. I'll try changing permissions
on my desktop tomorrow & see what happens.
Thanks again,
PS

Yes, I checked the build date before my last message. And
yes, it's always "s" in the message -- the variable name is
v1. At first I thought I was hitting alt instead of ctrl or
something like that.
Thanks. I've now tried taking a different angle on this, in
the snapshot I've just put up.
