It's on the Tiger installation DVD, though I guess it's not
installed by default.
A student here has a mac which showed the same symptoms. Turned out he didn't
have X11 installed, either; I guess a standard installation of OSX doesn't
include X11. After installing X11, gretl runs, but not via the "gretl" file in
the main gretl folder. That just hangs; it doesn't crash, it just stays there
doing nothing visible and has to be killed by hand. OTOH, opening a shell
("Terminal" in OSX parlance) and running the "gretl.sh" script from
the bin
directory, as per your previous attempt, works ok.
