Riccardo, Allin,
I have been using GRETL to compliment R for a couple of years now but only
recently have signed up for this Users List.
I am running Windows XP SP2 and I have tried to replicate Javier's error
using both the 5/15/07 build and the current snapshot and I cannot do it.
The only reason that I write is that I am a listserv member for another open
source program where recently, a user reported the same error. The answer
was for the user to download the source and build the package himself using
Cygwin.

Yes, that's exactly what Jack meant. And it confirms that the
problem is most likely in the Fourier transform routine: this was
new in gretl 1.6.5, and it is not invoked if you ask for the
Bartlett version.
I will try to put up a new snapshot today, with a new build of the
Fourier transform DLL that's supplied with gretl.
Another potentially helpful test would be trying to replicate the error on
a different computer (with Windows, obviously -- preferably the same
version as you have on the computer on which gretl crashes).
