After reinstalling R shipped with the official repo and running
"R_HOME=/usr/lib64/R gretl &" it works fine. Just wondering why I need
to define R_HOME like this, but hopefully Sven's suggestion to have a
look at PKG_CONFIG_PATH will be helpful ;-)
