My workaround was to start gretl in English just to save the graphs. But
I wonder whether gretl's behavior should be changed. For example, gretl
could automatically add the strings as part of the legend entries which
would then be editable.
A more efficient way of dealing with this might be: (a) save the
graph as a session icon, (b) right-click on the icon and choose
"Edit plot commands", (c) change the titles of the variables as
you wish.
Note that in gnuplot the "key" is automatically constructed using
the titles provided for the variables in the "plot" command, as in
plot <whatever> title '<title>' ...
In gretl's GUI graph editor you can change the title per line,
under the "Lines" tab, but the "(left)" or "(right)" tags
are not
editable, they are added automatically, which makes sense since
the graph editor allows you to switch variables between axes.
