what is going on? Is gretl 1.7.1 supposed to report "gretl: gui client
for gretl version 1.7.9"?
It sounds as if you may have some sort of mixture of two versions
of gretl on your system. Gretl 1.7.1 will not report a version
number of 1.7.9.
