Two other useful command-line tools to convert xls files into ascii and csv:
- xlhtml:

Converting from excel to csv is not a problem, other ways e.g. are
opening it with openoffice or using excel under wine.. the fact is that
I didn't want mess with different files, if I HAVE to use excel and
share them with others..
