Did you try that suggestion from Allin: "At first I had a problem
running gnuplot but this was apparently due to a stale ~/.gretl2rc.
After deleting that gnuplot works fine from within gretl."
The current macOS snapshot has a "remedial" mechanism built in: if
the gnuplot path coming from the user's .gretl2rc file doesn't work,
we try substituting the default path, under /Applications/Gretl.app.
I haven't yet managed to test this on a Mac but I believe it should
work.
