It seemed to me that displaying the names of lagged variables in the
main window just cluttered up the screen for no good reason, so I
made them "invisible" in current gretl.
But if people think that was a bad move, I can reinstate them.
Any other thoughts on this?
I vote for invisibility. I concede there might be a slight improvement in
the way we now diplay variables in the GUI by providing some sort of
graphical sign between the ID and the variable name, that tells you
visually if lags for those variables already exist, ie something like
(apologies for the poor ASCII art)
2 [ ] Foo blah blah blah
3 [4] Bar grunt
4 [ ] Baz no description
Which means: Foo_1 doesn't exist yet, but Bar_4 does.
I suspect the improvement would be rather small, compared to the amount of
work on the GUI Allin would have to do (don't look at me, I wouldn't know
where to start, but someone with some GTK experience could lend a hand).
But I may be wrong. What do you think, guys?
