Where do I find the x86_64 version of X-12-ARIMA for Gretl 1.9.92?

It's quite easy, actually:
* download https://www.census.gov/ts/x13as/unix/x13assrc_V1.1_B19.tar.gz
* untar it somewhere (eg, /opt/x13sa)
* rename makefile.g77 to Makefile
* run make
* copy (or symlink) x13as into somewhere on your $PATH (eg /usr/local/bin)
* make sure that gretl finds it (Tools>Preferences>General>Programs)
and off you go.

New subject: compiled on my own gretl doesn't run
Good morning,
I'm currently using debian testing + gnome shell 3.18, kernel 4.2.
for my master thesis purposes, I've compiled Gretl with OBCD support,
following the instructions in the user guide that say to add the prefix
./configure --with-odbc --with-ODBC-prefix=/opt/ODBC when configuring.
I've also installed all the necessary dependencies, when giving the
commands configure, make and make check everything goes fine.
But I've noticed that when performin sudo make install I see a lot of
warning (red-colored in my console) and, at the end, when opening gretl,
I get this error message:
/usr/local/bin/gretl_x11: error while loading shared libraries:
libgretl-1.0.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
Also I've noticed that in the output of the command ./configure, at the
line gtk version, I see 2.0 instead of 3.0 (shouldn't be by default gtk
3.0?)
Did I miss something when compiling?

The warnings are probably just about relinking, and can be ignored.
and, at the end, when opening gretl, I get this
error message:

You probably need to update the run-time linker's database, via the
command
sudo ldconfig
Also I've noticed that in the output of the command ./configure,
at
the line gtk version, I see 2.0 instead of 3.0 (shouldn't be by
default gtk 3.0?) Did I miss something when compiling?
By default it will be gtk 3.0, if all the "devel" apparatus is in
place for that variant. To figure out what's happening on your system
we'd need to see the file config.log that gets generated by the
configure script.

I've spotted the very same things you said at the end of the appendix
"Building Gretl" in the user guide.
Another question: in order to compile gretl on gtk3, do I need
libgtk-3-dev installed?

Yes, you need the "dev" package for all dependencies of gretl if
you're building from the source files.

New subject: import char/varchar columns via odbc
Good morning everybody,
I'm currently running compiled on my own gretl 2015d with odbc support
on debian testing with gnome shell. I have correctly configured the odbc
driver, since I can connect to the db both from gretl and libreoffice base.
In gretl, importing numeric columns from a db table works correctly, but
I can't figure out how to import character values columns. For example,
my favorite test db is world, the one containing all the world countries
and the cities; I can import in gretl the columns for population and for
gnp, for example, but not the one containing the names of the countries.
If I give the command
data countries query="SELECT Name FROM Countries" --odbc
I get a series of zeros; if I add the option obs-format="%s" (the option
for string values, as I saw on the user's guide) nothing happens. Am I
missing something?

Sorry it's taking a while to get you a response on this. I (or
somebody) will need to do some experimentation and since I'm not a
regular ODBC user I'll have to set up a test rig. Anyway, your query
is not ignored and hopefully you'll get an answer before long.
