Yes, I think you're right.
Yet another possibility would be to choose a default format for
the documentation, like e.g. English (US letter paper). Then you
could mention somewhere that the documentation is available in
other formats, together with a description of how to get it and
where to install it. Now, I am not a programmer, but I suppose it
should not be that hard to write a routine that automates all
this...
Yes, this is sensible. I have implemented something of this sort in
CVS. There's a new tab in the gretl Preferences dialog for the
version of the PDF manuals a user prefers to see. If a user has not
stated any preference yet, and clicks on a menu item or icon that
calls for a PDF manual file, that Preferences tab is presented.
I plan to distribute the US English PDF files with gretl. If a user
selects a different version, it will be downloaded and installed,
and then taken to be the default version until any further change
is made under Preferences.
