How to import data from the server, like the "Yahoo_get" function package does, but for St.Louis FRED data?

Hi! I´m a new Gretl-user. I need to generate a code that downloads any time series from
the macroeconomic database of the FRED of St. Louis. I know there's a database of
these in Gretl, but it's not up to date. That is why I would like to see if there is
any code to download it from the server.

Hi, good question. First of all, I'm not sure if it's the expected
status that the series in the "fedstl" or "fred_intl" databases on
the
server are lagging. Maybe others can weigh in on that.
Apart from that I'm not aware of a gretl tool that directly grabs stuff
from FRED. There's the dbnomics addon (see File/Databases/DB.NOMICS)
which will have a lot of overlap with what's on FRED, but it's not the
same thing of course.
Another thing that would be "nice to have".

I also think there are instructions on the FRED site for accessing it via API. I’ve never
tried any flavor of API, but gretl has that ability (right?).

Well, gretl does have the necessary features to make it work, yes, but
some hansl code would need to be written.
On https://fred.stlouisfed.org/docs/api/fred/ there's a list (possibly
incomplete) of available toolkits for various programming languages.
Plus, commerical software like Eviews or Stata have their own interface
to Fred built in.
