To GRETL people
In gretl 2022b there seems to be a problem with the extra-add-on and
yahoo_get-add-on.
From the net:
2022-08-09 version 2022b
- new command/keyword "continue" for use in loops
- new option --decr for use with index loops
- new function commute(): pre/post multiplication by the
commutation operator (replaces analogous function in the
extra addon)
This seems to cause conflicts.
Package loading error:
extra1.1 defines a function commute(), which conflicts with a built-in
function in gretl 2022b. Please checkfor an updated version of exta.
or in console
? include yahoo_get.gfn
Error reading .gretl/functions/yahoo_get.gfn
The function gap_filler is already defined by package 'extra'

It looks as if you still have in your system an old version of the "extra"
package. Since extra is an add-on supplied with gretl, updating gretl
should normally take care of updating the extra package for you (as well
as other addons, like geoplot or dbnomics). Obviously, in this case
something went wrong.
Things you can try:
1) If you go to the menu entry "File>Function packages>On local machine"
you should see what the available version of "extra" is. If you see two,
just delete the old one.
2) From a console, type the statement "include extra.gfn": you should see
something like
? include extra.gfn
<some path on your machine>
extra 1.5, 2022-07-28 (The gretl team)
If the reported version is 1.4 (as I believe), the path you see is the
version to delete
PS: this time, I (as a mailing list admin) let your message thorugh "by
hand", but in general the mailing list policy is that only subscribers can
post messages to the list, so you should consider subscribing.

Helgi, can you tell us what platform this is on? That would help us
try to ensure this sort of problem doesn't arise in future. As Jack
says, it appears that gretl is loading a previous version of extra
rather than the one installed by gretl 2022b.

To GRETL people
I am sorry to waste your time. I used to be a subscriber of GRETL
maillist (many years ago). I have used GRETL for some 15-20 years.
I think there is something wrong with the ARCH linux-packaging (AUR). I
could get yahoo_get-add-on working. I could go to about-gretl and
update the addons. Some addons seemed out-of-date. Everything seemed to
work except for the logging-add-on (error reading package).
I have run an active propaganda for GRETL for many years.
