OTOH, I think one important perception problem that gretl has is that many researchers think it's "just" a nice teaching tool, and don't view it as a serious number-crunching package. So I'm not sure that stressing further the nice GUI aspects is the most important thing. Apart from that, can you give some concrete examples? When you select "/Add/Lags of selected variables" are you getting the dialog box where you choose the number of lags?
