True, but IMO some books on panel data kinda go overboard with use of
matrices (Baltagi) while others are more sparing (e.g. Wooldridge's
Econometric Analysis of Cross Section and Panel Data). There's nothing
wrong with Baltagi's approach, but he tends to reference big matrices
of a sort that no sane coder would construct. Such matrices can play a
useful expository role for those who are comfortable with linear
algebra but are off-putting for others.
