this may be of interest for some of you.
I've build a working Docker container. The Image is based on Ubuntu
19.10 and includes a compiled version of gretl 2019d (build-date
2020-01-13).
Hi Artur, thanks. Of course this is a pretty big chunk of data. (This is
not a criticism as I have suggested using a virtual machine for gretl in
the past myself.)
For Windows users an alternative might be simply to use the zip
distribution prepared by Allin (also on
http://gretl.sourceforge.net/win32/), which doesn't require installation
or anything and should "just work". See also some mailing list threads
about using a USB stick to run gretl.
On Linux I guess this is not so easy since the relevant libraries are
not shipped with gretl, but always taken from the underlying system. (Of
course one might run Wine and then use the Windows variant..., in theory.)
So one remaining question: Does the MacOS package have everything that's
needed and could be run from a USB pen/drive? (I'm asking for a friend,
hehe.)
thanks
