The new version of gretl, downloaded from the Ricardo site this 
morning (Jan 5th), works for me on Leopard - it starts X11 and then 
gretl.  As a warning, the start-up is a little slow but that may be 
because I was using a Macbook on battery power.

There's a new dmg, based on current CVS, at

http://ricardo.ecn.wfu.edu/pub/gretl/gretl.dmg

It's possible this may work with X11 on Leopard (that is, to start
gretl from a situation where X11 is not already running).
