The main point of this release (not so long after 2020a) is to
provide a package that should work better with macOS 10.15
"Catalina". But there are benefits from updating on other platforms
too.

- Update gretl copyright notice
- Revise macOS build: don't require initialization via
shell script, and link against version 10.9 of the SDK
- "gnuplot" and "plot" commands: add a --ylogscale option
- "store" command: add --matrix option to save a matrix in
the form of a dataset
- strvals(): support retrieval of subset of string values
for current sample range
- ODBC importation: correct the handling of string-valued
series; add --verbose and --no-align options; ensure
appropriate error messages in GUI usage
- "dataset addobs": add a --panel-time option
- "slicing" of arrays: allow use of selection vector
- Functions called via "if": show any printed output
- "dataset addobs": add --panel-time option to extend a
panel dataset in the time dimension
- stack() function (see Guide chap. 4): replace option
flags with optional arguments
- monthlen(): allow for series arguments
- Revise handling of string-valued data in exportation to
Stata .dta format
- Hide the recently added funcerr() function and replace
it with the new function errorif()
- Streamline building of "online" help files
- Fix for normalization of paths on MS Windows
- Several minor bug-fixes

I installed the same version few days back but could not move from one menu to the other.
After your message, I installed again after uninstalled the old. But no luck! The same
issue still there.

Yes.
Using macOS 10.15.4 on Mac mini (late 2014).
Installed following the instructions given on the website.
Gretl works. Can move from menu to menu using arrow keys.
Menu accessible with Ctrl-F2.
But there is a problem.
I cannot run gnuplot from within Gretl.
Regardless of how I specify the program (just gnuplot or with the full path to
gnuplot.sh).
The message given is: Gnuplot is broken or to old: must be version >= 5.0
I can run gnuplot from the Terminal (I have made a symlink to gnuplot.sh in the Gretl
application package).

I can run gnuplot from the Terminal (I have made a symlink to
gnuplot.sh in the Gretl application package).
I just tested on macOS 10.15.3, both the 2020b-git snapshot from
March 5 (which was already in place) and the 2020b release. At first
I had a problem running gnuplot but this was apparently due to a
stale ~/.gretl2rc. After deleting that gnuplot works fine from
within gretl.
I'm now updating the iMac in question to 10.15.4, and we'll see what
happens...

OK, I'm now on macOS 10.15.4, and gnuplot as called by gretl still
works fine here.
After deleting my old ~/.gretl2rc (maybe a relic of testing
different gnuplot versions?), the default path for gnuplot is
/Applications/Gretl.app/Contents/Resources/bin/gnuplot
(Note: not gnuplot.sh. The gnuplot binary should, I think, inherit
its environment from gretl, which is now set internally via C code.)

I tested with success on Mac OS 10.15.14 (latest Catalina? Not on it right
now) . I did not change anything from old .gretlrc and gnuplot worked fine.
Also my language was correctly set. I am amazed with the speed, but didn't
do any intense testing.

OK, I'm now on macOS 10.15.4, and gnuplot as called by gretl still
works fine here.
After deleting my old ~/.gretl2rc (maybe a relic of testing

I had a look in my .gretlrc.
It contained a line gnuplot=gnuplot.sh .
I commented that line and nou gnuplot from within Gretl works.
How that line go there I wouldn't know.

I had a look in my .gretlrc.
It contained a line gnuplot=gnuplot.sh .
I commented that line and now gnuplot from within Gretl works.
Thanks, Berend, that's good to hear.
But on the error message you saw at first -- "Gnuplot is broken or
too old" -- it seems we could do better. At least the message should
be more informative. Beyond that, in the macOS package we know what
the default gnuplot path is, so if what's in ~/.gretl2rc doesn't
work, for whatever reason, we should try replacing it with the
default. I'll work on that when I get a chance.
