Mihai sent me the session file (too big for the list), and the problem lay
with reading back big matrices stored as XML. Our method was too slow. This
is now speeded up greatly in gretl CVS and the new code will go into the
snapshots shortly. (Actually I'm not sure why the read was much faster on
Windows, maybe there are some highly optimized string functions in the
C library.)
