However, you can start coding your own functions now. All you lack at
the
moment is a fancy graphical interface for calling your own scripts. The
point
in a free software project is *NOT* about money, it's all about blurring
the
distinction between coders and users. A lot of effort has gone into beefing
up
the script machinery (functions, matrices, loop refinements and so on)
because
contributing to the gretl source is near-impossible unless you have a
decent
knowledge of econometrics and C. If we move the entry point to script
writing,
we should -- hopefully -- lower the barriers to entry by a large margin.
Yes, I know that and unfortunatelly I don't have experience in C programming
and I don't have much free time.
The programming logic is clear to me and I know a little bit of Visual
Basic.
Because of that, I also think that this forthcoming feature will be great.
This means that one can post his own procedure on gretls web page (for
example).
